Pilani is where it all started. Started by a group of BITSians under the name My India at BITS, Pilani, Nirmaan has grown into a full-fledged organisation with many chapters across the country and Pilani is where its roots are the strongest. Nirmaan-Pilani now has more than 100 dedicated student volunteers working in the villages of Rajasthan to provide better educational and employment opportunities for the poor and the marginalized rural population.
Over the years many projects have been undertaken in the fields of education like Gyan Bodh (GB), Inter Connectivity of Schools (ICS), School Adoption Program (SAP) and Child Labour Eradication Projects and as far as employment is concerned Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have been set up to help women dictate their own terms in life and Vocational Training Centres for the unemployed rural population and many community development initiatives are being undertaken to contribute in the all-round development of the villages.
