The Bangalore chapter of Nirmaan was established in early 2007 by a small group of BITS Alumni and BITS Practice School (internship) student members. Initially started as a fund raising chapter, it has now expanded its domain to ground-level activities as well. It is targeted at raising huge support to other chapters, apart from taking up various development projects and building the whole organization.
Nirmaan-Bangalore started its activities by supporting WARDS (a school for disabled children) and later adopted two government higher primary schools as part of the School Adoption Program. Volunteers take up bridge courses and activity based learning modules, aimed at inculcating interest in students towards education. Most of the volunteers of the chapter hail from different IT companies and local communities in Bangalore.
