Pune chapter is yet to be structured. A small group of active volunteers are working towards establishing a base at Pune with several activities in tandem with the vision of Nirmaan.
Projects
At present Pune chapter is focussing on implementation of SAP( School adoption programme) which is one of the potential projects undertaken by Nirmaan. We have recently identified a government school near Ghokale nagar.

Its a marathi as well as urdu run school. It has two campuses, one for primary and one for secondary education. After long trips made to the Corporation where the Education board head sits, we were able to get permission from him to formally adopt the school.
Our members conducted a survey in the boys and girls schools respectively and were able to interact with the teachers and students as well. We are in the process of charting out a long term plan to improve the school and turn it into a model school.
Apart from this, we have formed two small groups who will be focussing on two areas.
1. Awareness in slum areas about clean and hygienic conditions, importance of sending their children to school.
2. Figuring out how other NGOs work in Pune. Comparing their mode of work with NIRMAAN and sorting out solutions for improvement.
The first group is concentrating on giving awareness to the slum areas about cleanliness, health tips, good way of living, importance of education and so on. Our first priority is to find the slum where the parents of the children studying in the above school live, so that we can serve two purposes of getting closer to them and enlightening them about their childrens education. Another group is trying to find out more NGO's in pune working in similar lines of Nirmaan to gain experience and also find of ways of working in places like pune, mumbai etc.
